Johanna Maria 18/6 1841 – June 20 1915

Johanna was born in Sötåsa Södergård  June 18 1841. She moved from there 19 years old, 1860 to Vireda. She probably worked there as a maid.

23/5 1863 she married the Soldier Sven Magnus Frid from Förås in Flisby, born 17/10 1825- 16 year older than Johanna. She was 22 at the time. He brought one son, Isak Ludvig with him, into the marriage. Isak Ludvigs mother was Anna Margareta Andersdotter born 1811 but she died in breast inflammation 1861- 50 years old.

Sven Magnus Frids Family name was Johannesson and Frid was his Soldiername. He joined the army 1847.

He belonged to Jönköpings regemente, Rote Ormaryd 122, Company Västra Härad, Solberga socken (Parish). The Soldiers cottage no: Torpnummer: JR-00-0397

They had 8 children together: They stayed for 13 years in Flisby – the parish Sven Magnus came from, until about 1876 when they moved to Ormaryd, Turlunda soldiers cottage. The children were August Emil, who moved to the US 1863, 17 years old, Johan Edvard US 1885- 18 years old, Esther who died 7 years old in brainfever, Oscar Henrik– US 1888- 17 years old, Karl Anders– US 1892-18 years old, Matilda– US- 16 years old, Axel Wilhelm – US 1903- 24 years old, Anna Alida who died only 20 years old 1902.

1885 the family moved from Ormaryds Soldattorp-Soldiers cottage no 122 in Turlunda to Backstugan Fridhem, Kättstorp in Norra Solberga parish. He was said to be ‘avskedad’ – called ‘Gratialist’

Sven Magnus died 10/2 1908.

1909 Johanna Maria moved to the US, she was then 68 years old. She was the last one of Johannes and Anna-Gretas children to move to the US. Only brother Johan August stayed in Sweden of them all. She took the name of her first son Emil, which was Tyden and she reunited with her siblings who had all moved there except for Johan August.

1909 the emigration went from Ormaryd, Sweden and  she came on the ship Laurentic
,together with her son Emil and his wife Minnie and daughter Florence via Liverpool, England to Quebec, Canada- Aug. 19. She registered her younger brother Johan August at Storrydet, Sweden, being her closest relative at place of origin.

In 1910 – one year later, she is registered staying with her son Johan Edvard and his daughters in Chicago, Illinois and also her daughter Matilda ‘Tillie’, 33 moves in when Johan Edvards wife dies that same year.

She seems to have been able to travel around and see her siblings as she came to the US.
 

She died June 20 1915 – 74 years old and is buried in Oakwoods cemetery, Chicago
