John Adolf is born in Nässjö as Johan August and Sofias first child. In the church book 1881 in Svenarum he was named Johan Adolf.

When John was 2 years old his father saw some children in the street of Nässjö who quarreled and threw stones at each other. This made him think that he wanted to raise his own children in a more peaceful atmosphere. He bought a farm, far out in the woods of Svenarum- Storrydet, and moved there with his little family 1879.

He then left for Norway to learn the tailoring profession by Albin and Jenny Larsson who lived in Horton, Norway. He stayed there some years and his sister Judith also came to stay there. Judith and John were very close.

When John went back to start up his own tailoring business in Vaggeryd, Småland, she came along with him and worked with him for a while.
