Florence was the daughter of Emil Tyden and Minnie H Johnsen. She was born in Austin, Illinois.

She finished 4 years  of college. She later assumed her fathers position at the companies he had created.

She married Rickard A Groos, born 1892, from a Texas banking family, who became the President of the National Bank of Hastings and President of International Seal & Lock co- the enterprise Emil Tyden started.

They had one son: Richard T Groos.
