Josef was half a year when he emigrated to the US. He was born in Almesåkra, Sweden. He is the 5th from left in the above picture.
He married Nettie Carlson. They had one daughter: Jeanette (1919) and raised Wilma (1917) who was Joes younger brother Henrys daughter, after her mom Syna died.
There are written histories about Joe and Nettie.
He is told to be a self-made man. He got an infected leg and was told he would not be able to walk.
He went to night-school and to public speaking courses.
He worked, as Gene– his older brother, at the cannery of Cokato. They are told that they were fixing machines in the factory. He seems to have enjoyed cars: He worked as a chauffeur, car mecanic, towed and stored autos, sold Nash cars…
About Nettie: Her mom died when she was 9 years only. She and her sister then cared for their younger twin-brothers. As a teen-ager she was a nurse-maid for Charles Lindbergh. She worked with sewing buttonholes at shirts. She took in Wilma in the family, 20 months old, as she was pregnant with Jeanette.
He passed away 95 years old.
