Burdette married Florence Hunt:  1913-1970 She became only 57 years old.

They adopted a son: John Hunt Peterson.

Burdette was also called Uncle Pete according to living relatives. He was known as being a bit loud and he liked the bottle a bit much.

Burdette became 85 years old. He survived his wife by 24 years.
