Ruben was the littlest boy among the children of Johan August and Sofia.

He was close to Isak, his 2 year older brother.

Since he was one of the youngest of the Storrydsfamily he was constantly surrounded by young people and friends. They were very socially active growing up- especially in the Church they belonged to. There were friends around from different places where they lived.

He was adventurous and emigrated to the US 9 May 1923 – 30 years old- the year before his mother died. His older sister Maria had then moved to Canada and Judith had come back to Sweden with her family.

In the US he was working with different matters searching his luck. At the picture below he worked as a private chauffeur. He also went to search for gold without any greater success.

After a few years he came back to Sweden. He fell in love with the neighbours daughter  Anna Karlsson, but her father didn’t approve because he thought he was too much of an adventurer. He stayed at home 3 years but emigrated again to the US and he never got married. Coming home to Sweden again settling there for the rest of his life, he once was asked if he would pick up the fight for Anna again, but then he said that she had become too fat…

He came back to stay in Sweden for good 13 May 1950 at the age of 57 years old (Fiskaby, Åbo) (AID:v172329.b23.s268)

He settled in Sjöbo- not so far away from Storrydet.

He had his little dog and stayed single. He would visit family here and there. Vivian- his niece by sister Judith kept in touch all his life and she went to visit him together with a couple of her children Annika and Krister as he was in his 70ies. He came to pick them up in his Volvo Amazon in the little village of Hok but couldn’t find his way home. He had become quite senile but stayed at his home anyway for quite a while.

He passed away as he was 77years old and is buried together with his siblings in Svenarum church.
