Mallan was born in Byarum, Vaggeryd. Her parents were John and Anna Blomdahl. She was 1,5 years younger than Nora, her sister.

When Mallan was 34 years old in 1939, her sister Nora suddenly died after having given birth to her third child. The father Gustaf Bohnmark (1905- 1982) was left alone with the children. Mallan now decided that she would help out and left her work and went to the family. She ended up marrying Gustaf 1941-07-25 and they had 2 more children Lars and Ann-Marie.

Mallan became 101 years old and survived her husband by 27 years.

She is buried at Skredsviks Kyrkogård,  Uddevalla.
