Jon Linnartsson 1626 – 1691 Glassås

Painting from the Battle of Lund- occuring in the lifetime of Jon.

Jon was from Glassås which is not far away from Lund in Skåne, the southernmost landscape of Sweden, neighbouring Småland.

He became the father of Linnart at 41-42 years old

He died at the age of 65.

He lived during Per Brahes d y: time (1602-80): who had several castles in the region. (See Brahehälla in Map) Per Brahe was a wealthy powerful man who worked close to Gustav II Adolf and Axel Oxenstierna.

1632 the Swedish king Gustav II Adolf was killed in the Battle of Lützen. He was fighting all over Europe for the large country of Sweden and for the Protestantic church. The Young queen Kristina 1626- 6 years old, ‘took over’ – she abdicated her from her throne 1654- 27 years old- and moved to Italy and converted to the Catholic faith. A big scandal within Sweden.

Jon also lived during the Skåne war 1675-79 which was envolving Denmark and other parts of Europe.
