David was the third son of the Johan August and Sofia family. He was born in Storrydet

 He grew up in Storrydet but died only 12 years old in diphteria. His younger sister who was 5 year old, Agnes ,had died in May, half a year earlier of the same cause. Several children in this region died from this cause this year.

The parents grieved their children very much. After this, father Johan August was asking himself why God had punished him. It is said that after this he started practicing saturday as the holy day. He had been told by a neighbouring ‘free-thinker’ that this was the day to keep sabbath on according to the Bible. He had gone home studying the Bible to find the answer, but he thought that if the whole world kept Sunday as a holy day- why would he be the only one to know? Thinking, maybe, this was the issue God wanted to tell him about the hard way, he now started doing that, without knowing anyone else doing it.
