It has been restored several times but is now a ruin. It was built in 1680 by Count Per Brahe the younger, who died the same year. He had bought Näs Manor 1659. A master-mason Måns from Hultsbäck in Bälaryd socken, was building the castle at this property for Brahe. 1795 as Håkan was 13 years old it is said that some of the tiles were stolen by the farmer Anders from Skog at the opposite side of the lake and he was convicted for the crime.

Håkan married Stina Larsdotter from Sötåsa South Farm 1803 and moved there.
