\"Emma<\/a>Emma Sofia was born as number 8 of the 10 S\u00f6t\u00e5sa children. \u00a0She was born the 19\/7. 1852. When S\u00f6t\u00e5sa was sold 30\/10 1874 she moved to Vireda. She was then 22 years old.<\/address>\n

\u00a0Two years later – 22\/7 1876 she married August W Isaksson – she was then 24 years old.<\/p>\n

August William Isaacson was born 24\/9 1838 in Sm\u00e5land. He was 14 years older and had 5 children already with his first wife: \u00a0Ida Mathilda.<\/address>\n
2 of the\u00a05 children, \u00a0‘Tillie’ and David,\u00a0\u00a0immigrated to America with Emma Sofia, his 2nd wife,\u00a0 and 7 of their their own.\u00a0<\/address>\n

Emma Sofia was 35 years old and August was 49 years old when they emigrated in 1887.<\/address>\n
When they moved to the US \u00a022\/3 1887 they settled in Minnesota, not so far from where her brother Gustaf Fredrik<\/a> had settled in Springvale. \u00a0They first came by train from Minneapolis to Howard lake<\/a>, northwest of Minneapolis, where August had family and they stayed with them at first. They then rented acreage north of Howard lake and traded goods in Howard lake.\u00a0<\/address>\n

They had 12 children together: Anna Julia<\/a> 1877, August<\/a> V.1878, Elizabeth<\/a> 1880, Salome<\/a> 1881, Efrain<\/a> 1883, Gideon<\/a> 1884, Josef<\/a> 1886, Henry<\/a> 1888, Ruth<\/a> 1890, Ruebin<\/a> 1892, Ethel<\/a> 1894, Walter<\/a> 1896. \u00a0<\/address>\n
The year after they arrived in the US 1888 in the sping and over the summer was very hard: \u00a0they lost 3 children in ?fevers: August<\/a> 10 yy, Salome<\/a> 7yy and Efrain<\/a> 5 yy. Emma Sofia expressed later: ‘I thought I would loose my mind…’<\/address>\n
Her older brother Gustaf Fredrik<\/a> who lived not so far away- in Springvale, Mn – had suffered a similar loss 3 years earlier in the winter of 1884-85 when 3 of his 4 children died in dysentery and diphteria. They kept in touch all their life. There is a letter from Gustaf F. that he wrote to Emma Sofia at the age of 75. See Gustafs page.\u00a0<\/address>\n
